The Drawing Research Network is a loose network of individuals and institutions who are involved in some way with drawing research, for example via professional practice, education or the promotion of drawing. Some participants come from institutions with established drawing activities including courses, research, publications and exhibitions. Other participants simply have an interest in drawing. Membership of the Network is free.

The Campaign was initiated in 2000 by The Guild of St George, a small charity founded by John Ruskin, the great Victorian artist, writer and visionary. Ruskin saw drawing as the foundation of visual thought. His mission was not to teach people how to draw, but how to see. .

Drawing and Cognition Project. This research programme is based at Camberwell College of Arts (part of the London Institute) and develops and continues the Painter’s Eye Movements (PEM) project. PEM was initiated in 1998 by John Tchalenko, with the collaborations of Humphrey Ocean, painter, Chris Miall, Department of Physiology, University of Oxford and Robert Solso, Department of Psychology, University of Nevada.
